The Project:

Our agency partner, Alpha Business Images, came to us to collaborate on producing two spots, in English and Spanish, being :30, :15, and :07 for their Substance Abuse Campaign for Dallas County with their concept called "Time for a Change." The objective of this campaign was to address substance abuse and recovery, focusing on the transformative journey from struggle to healing. The campaign featured parallel narratives showcasing the stark contrast between active addiction and recovery, utilizing both realistic workplace scenarios and social settings. The objective was to create a powerful visual narrative that would resonate with individuals struggling with substance abuse while offering hope and concrete pathways to recovery.

The Process:

With a lower budget to work with, we maximized efficiency by utilizing our own BLANC Studios in Fort Worth, transforming the space into two distinct environments: a lively party scene for a 20s male and a work-from-home setting for a professional in his late 30s to early 40s. To ensure a smooth production day, we prepped both scenes the day before, carefully setting up props, lighting, and key visual elements.

Production kicked off at 8 a.m., focusing first on a corporate storyline that depicted the impact of substance abuse on professional life. Wardrobe, makeup, and set design played a crucial role in crafting a powerful before-and-after transformation—first portraying our talent in distress, then evolving into a compelling recovery narrative that highlighted resilience and renewal.

The second setup required a dramatic shift, converting the studio into an immersive party scene. The production team meticulously arranged every detail to create a sense of controlled chaos, using strategic lighting and prop placement to convey the overwhelming effects of substance abuse in social settings. To enhance the storytelling, we integrated green screen elements for phone-based interactions, seamlessly incorporating recovery resource messaging into the narrative.

Despite the challenges of a fast-paced production schedule, careful pre-production planning ensured that everything ran smoothly. From set transformations to detailed shot planning, the project came together efficiently while maintaining a creative and collaborative energy on set. The result? A compelling and impactful campaign that delivered a strong message while making the most of available resources.
