The Project:
The Eyemart Express Back-to-School campaign was designed to provide students with affordable, high-quality eyewear as they prepared for the new school year, with a specific focus on parents as the primary decision-makers in purchasing eyewear for their children. The campaign was created in both English and Spanish, ensuring broad accessibility and engagement.
The initiative included a mix of TV spots, social media videos, and radio ads, each crafted to highlight special promotions, exclusive discounts, and a diverse selection of frames tailored to meet students’ unique needs. What set this campaign apart was its innovative approach to storytelling: a young child takes center stage, narrating her adventures in a blend of live-action and animation. Her vibrant imagination comes to life through playful animations, showcasing how Eyemart Express’ eyewear can make the school year shine.
By featuring a kid as the voice of the campaign, Eyemart Express aimed to foster a more relatable and authentic connection with its audience. This approach not only engaged parents but also resonated with younger viewers, creating a sense of excitement and fun around back-to-school shopping.
The Process:
The pre-production phase for this campaign was key to ensuring a seamless and successful shoot. We began by conducting a location scout at Eyemart Express in Farmers Branch, carefully planning out the shots we wanted to capture. This allowed us to identify the best angles and areas within the store that would highlight the excitement and authenticity of the shopping experience. By thoughtfully mapping out the space, we ensured we would capture the perfect moments to showcase Eyemart Express' commitment to quality and customer service.
Casting was another critical part of our pre-production process. We held a casting call and conducted in-person auditions to find the perfect young girl to embody the essence of the campaign. We wanted someone who could authentically deliver the charm and excitement of the shopping experience while engaging with the glasses in a way that felt genuine. After careful consideration, we selected a young talent who brought just the right energy to the shoot.
Over the course of two fast-paced, highly coordinated days, our team executed the campaign flawlessly, bringing the client’s concept and script to life. On day one, we shot on location at Eyemart Express in Farmers Branch, capturing the authentic excitement of parents and their children as they explored new glasses. This setting perfectly showcased the brand’s commitment to quality and customer service, providing an ideal backdrop for the campaign. Along with the in-store footage, we also produced a series of promotional videos designed to be short, engaging, and easily shareable across various platforms.
On day two, we moved to BLANC cowork + studio, transforming the space into our “home location.” Our lead talent, the young girl we cast, took center stage, charmingly sharing her thoughts on her new glasses and her shopping experience with her parents. We focused on close-up shots that highlighted the design and fit of the glasses, seamlessly tying them into the back-to-school theme.
To bring the story to life, we paired her narration with playful animations, collaborating closely with our animator throughout the process, from storyboarding to final animations. Our team managed every aspect of the production, including casting, ensuring a smooth execution from start to finish. The result was a fun, energetic vibe that perfectly captured the spirit of the season and enhanced the campaign's overall narrative.
